Sharing the Joy!

A quick trial run in the garden and all is proved well! Fantastic bit of kit.

July 2012 Has been a VERY busy month! I have a near final revision for my 3 week route (on the route page). I have turned 31 and taken the family camping in the new forest! which for me is the first time since I was a teenager - It RAINED solid like something straight from the bible - but we survived none-the-less.

I Have bought A Vango Banshee 300 tent, and a vango Supernova 3000 Sleeping bag (slight overkill - but I'd rather be too warm). The sleeping bag, although fairly large (still fine to go ontop of rear rack) Is fantastically comfortable and warm, and the tent is more than spacious enough for two, and seeing as i'll be sleeping alone it should feel cavernous! The tent was an ABSOLUTE bargain at £52.19 for the 2012 model! I managed to catch a VERY short sale online, and then get it price matched for another 10% off at gooutdoors. Very happy man! I have also managed to pick up a trangia 25-2 (with the kettle) for £36. So apart from a self inflating mat I'm pretty much good to go, almost a shame it's not until next year!

With that in mind - We will be taking a short overnight or so trip to Dorset towards the end of august as a test run before winter, to sort of give us an idea of how much training or not will be required for the real thing. Hoping to hit 50/60 miles a day for 2-3 days. Which is a bit more than my daily commute of 17 miles round trip, and a lot more than Chris and Rachel's current mileage I suspect!
